Christmas 2010

Christmas time for the kids is always busy. They have three sets of grandparents to visit and lots of family to see so their Christmas break is always busy. They had another bountiful holiday and were thankful for everything. Here is our Christmas in pictures.

Gingerbread House

Sydni went to her Girl Scout Fall party and one of their activities was to make gingerbread houses. Sydni without a doubt had the best house there. Isn't it adorable. It looks like a Spanish adobe house. She even added a sofa for the family. And she did it all on her own.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

All the kids are Harry Potter fans. Jacob and Sydni are reading the series now so they were all excited to go out and see the latest movie last night. They all enjoyed it and can't wait for the second part to come out in 2011.

One of Sydni's friends, Kayla, went with us and first we headed to dinner at Chili's. The kids actually started singing The Star Spangled Banner at the table -- not just any version but the Texas Stars version where you shout at STARS during the song.

Then it was off to see the movie. And no spoilers here but I will say that it was an awesome movie. The kids favorite parts of the movie as told on the way home:
Sydni: Nagini the snake's appearance
Jacob: the Horcrux being destroyed
Kayla: when the deer came out
Caleb: ::snore:: he was asleep on the way home and didn't want to be interiewed for this piece

Girl Scout Heritage meeting

Sydni was preparing for a Girl Scouts meeting where she had to bring information on her heritage including food native to her heritage, pics, music, etc. This was a little nerve wracking for Sydni because she has six different heritages to consider. Her mom's side is Spanish, Mexican and Aztec Indian. Her dad's side is English, German and Swedish.

She worked with her Grandma Sherry to make food from her heritage and PoPo got some tamales that Sydni could take with her. Granny Gran got Sydni a Mexican dress she wore that night and I got her pictures of her when she was smaller wearing Mexican dresses. She was so cute! I also researched the flags and maps for her to include in her scrapbook. Her mom told her and wrote down memories to include in her scrapbook. She had so much fun once she got to the meeting.

She was self conscious at first of wearing the dress but she finally settled down. Seeing this photo reminded me of another time this little girl wasn't happy and showed it (during a Mother's Day Out Christmas pageant).

the pumpkin patch

It's pumpkin season and that means going and picking up some pumpkins at the local church sale. The kids love going and picking their own. They don't care for taking pictures anymore though. I should have just gotten some casual shots of them painstakingly choosing their pumpkins instead of staged ones.

They will carve them the day before Halloween.

Ice skating

The kids have a new interest: ice skating. I'm not sure if it started because hockey has once again started or because a friend is taking lessons but all three of them are gung ho to do it. We went to the local ice skating rink and I couldn't believe how fast they took to it. Sydni was a little leery of falling down so it took her a little longer to do it but Jacob and Caleb just went right to it. Now they want to go every weekend. As soon as soccer is over, we will get them into lessons.

More soccer pics...

Here are some more pics from Caleb's soccer game. They have a great team again this year. And the coach cracks me up at how intense he is.

Go kart

The kids have once again been playing with their go kart...all because Granny Gran told them she was going to sell it. They hardly even fit in it but they get out there and play with it. And of course since I have my camera out I had to take pictures. Even Ivana gets a little loving while they are outside.

Soccer time

Caleb is once again playing soccer this Fall. His first game was Saturday and goodness was it hot out there. Caleb hustled so much and came close to scoring a goal. His team won huge and all those little boys worked so hard. His coach is a take no prisoners kind of coach and doesn't let up on them and in this instance, I think it's a good trait.

And in the parking lot as we were leaving....

Girl Scouts

Sydni had her Girl Scout bridging ceremony last Sunday. She will stay a Junior so she was the one who was bridging the Brownies to Juniors. She has so much fun with her troop. Can't wait to see what they do this year.
