at the pool...

We had to stay at a nearby hotel because of electrical issues and the kids are loving the indoor pool. Jacob hit his head on the bar coming up out of the pool so he is out of the pool for now. We are about to watch a Legally Blonde marathon (Sydni's mandate) as soon as the other two come up for air.

2009 -- Girl Scouts @ Dell Diamond

Sydni and her troop friends (Gaby and Katie) spent the night at the Dell Diamond with a couple hundred other Girl Scouts. They had fun swimming, playing on the field and watching Camp Rock on the Jumbotron. Unfortunately it started raining around 4am so they had to pick up camp and head home earlier than expected.

2009 -- Boy Scouts

Jacob and Caleb participated in the annual Crossover where they went from Tigers to Webelos. They were so cute being taken out as a group into another room where they had to change into their new shirts (beige vs. blue) and the plaid scarves. Diane is a co-leader for their troop.

2009 -- Field Day

The kids school had its annual Field Day where all the classes participate in games outside. They ran, played volleyball and basketball, threw hula hoops, and jumped rope - among other games. They all had fun. Caleb was limited in what he could participate in because he had been sick but he enjoyed the games he could play. Sydni and Jacob had a ball running around.

2009 -- Easter

We had a nice quiet Easter at home having an Easter egg hunt, cracking cascarones, and painting eggs. I gave the kids hand-painted buckets for their Easter baskets. They still enjoy having an Easter egg hunt (although next year I will probably only do money because I end up eating the candy) and they always have fun cracking eggs on people's heads. This year we went a little backwards and painted eggs before bedtime on Easter day instead of the night before.

2009 -- MISC

Jacob got a perfect score on both his reading and math TAKS tests. WooHoo!!!

Caleb received straight A's each semester (the last one he missed it by one point -- all A's except one B an 89).

Spring Break '09 - the kids didn't do much more than chill out for Spring Break. Granny Gran and PoPo took them to Chuck E. Cheese for the day and Grandma Sherry took them to Innerspace Caverns.

Jacob has had a chronic cough (not a hacking cough but more of something tickling his throat) and the doctor had to perform a biopsy on stomach to try and find the cause. He found something between the esophogus and stomach. It ended up being an inflamation in his stomach and was given an aggressive form of antibiotics. It seems to have cleared it up.

The new season of the Express started and we went to the first Friday night game. The kids enjoyed the new Intel Club which has great food.

2009 -- Odyssey of the Mind

Sydni, Jacob and Caleb were part of the school's "Odyssey of the Mind" program. They and their team did a great job at their regional meet and moved on to state. They were really hoping to make it past state but unfortunately that didn't work out -- but they did have fun in Houston at the state meet.

2009 -- Hockey

Caleb and I went to Dallas to watch the Chicago Blackhawks take on the Dallas Stars. We enjoyed the game -- there were a few fights -- and Caleb liked the way the players slammed up against the windows; it made it shake right in front of us.

We stayed at a hotel with an indoor pool which Caleb thoroughly enjoyed. And, of course, we had breakfast at Denny's - Caleb's favorite place to eat.
