more illnesses....

Jacob was sick some last week and this week. I rushed home from work on Friday night (at 11pm!) because Mom said that Jacob was getting a rash all over and he was really crying. Poor thing had red splotches all over his body and he could not get comfortable enough to get to sleep. Mom called the 800 nurses number and they asked her all these questions -- does he have the rash on his cheeks? YES -- are his ears red? YES -- are his lips swollen? OH MY GOODNESS! THEY ARE!!! His bottom lip became swollen so fast and so red. I couldn't tell if he was puckering out his lip or if it was actually swollen -- but it was SWOLLEN! The nurse said to give him Benadryl asap so we did and immediately he started feeling better. He woke up and was jumping around and having a grand old time. It was a little scary there -- I was very close to taking him to the ER. The doctor called back shortly after that and told Mom that it was an allergic reaction to his medicine and to keep giving him Benadryl. He's gotten the rash -- not as severe -- a few more times because the medicine is still in his system, but it's not as bad as it was last weekend.

And today Sydni developed pink eye. When I got to the house tonight (after being in NYC all week) she ran up to me and her poor eye was red and gunky (the kids couldn't agree on what to call it -- Sydni did not like Caleb's calling it "eye mocos"). Hopefully this won't last too long as it's painful and uncomfortable for her.

Wednesday was Field Day at school. Jacob wasn't able to go because he was still sick. Sydni and Caleb had a great time. Sydni's class won first place in one of the games and Caleb's class won second place.

Last Friday was Field Trip to the Zoo day for the Kindergarten class. Po-Po and I went on the field trip with Caleb and Sydni. Jacob once again wasn't able to go because he was home sick -- and he cried and cried because he couldn't go -- a trip to the zoo for him will be coming up. The kids were so excited to be going on the bus. The parents had to follow in cars behind the buses -- picture five buses full of kids and 20 cars of parents trailing the buses. We all had a good time.

Last Saturday was the last day of soccer for the kids. They had so much fun -- and were all great at getting to the ball. The YMCA gave them medals for their participation.

Next up....golf camp
