The kids first day of Fifth Grade was today. Caleb, Sydni and Jacob were all wide-eyed and bushy tail early this morning and ready for the new school year. Caleb and Jacob are in the same "pod" this year so they will at least have recess and lunch together. Sydni and her best friend Katie are in the same "pod" so all is right with the world. I hope they all have an enjoyable and rewarding school year.
Sydni, Jacob and Caleb turned 10 today. We can't believe they are growing up so fast! The day was spent having fun at Main Event. Sydni and Jacob have already had their birthday parties and Caleb will have his this weekend.
Update: Here are pics from their parties. Sydni had a Harry Potter party. We had it at a movie theatre and her face is on the movie poster. Way cute party. Jacob had his party at Chuck E. Cheese because he wanted to go in the Ticket Blaster. He was also so generous in letting his brother and sister be included in all the birthday extras there. Caleb had his at the Park and Pizza place and all the kids had so much fun. We were there over four hours!
The kids had their school field and track day in May. They all had to run track and Jacob was entered for the standing long jump in addition to track. They ended up not having the jump at the Field Day and instead did it at school after gym one day.
They all did great and stayed with it. We werevery proud of them.
Fourth of July was relatively quiet. Diane had to work and Sydni and I spent the day at my Aunt Yolanda's house with some family. It was great to spend some time with the cousins (and Aunts). The boys weren't feeling well so they stayed home with Granny Gran and Popo and played Wipe Out. Man they love the show and the game. We did go see the local fireworks display that evening though. The kids really enjoyed it.
Jacob, Caleb and Sydni with Granny Gran.
Sydni and Jacob watching the fireworks (Caleb was sitting in the car watching them). Don't they look cute!
I can't believe I didn't post pictures of the kids Easter or Bluebonnet pics. They were so cute! We haven't taken bluebonnet pics in a while and the kids indulged my need for some pics. Enjoy (a little belated)....
Diane and I took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge for a little vacation at the end of June/early July. Last year was our first time at GWL and we absolutely loved it. This is such a great place to bring the family -- although it can get a bit overwhelming with everything they have to do. This year we stayed in one of the cabin suites which had bunk beds and a day bed and man did the kids love this.
The first day we unpacked and rested and then the kids wanted to play the MagiQuest game again so we went to the store to reactivate their wands and, of course, they found some things they wanted to buy. That night we went to dinner at one of the restaurants on site to celebrate Diane's birthday. It was a pretty good meal.
Last year they didn't do the storytelling at bedtime so we went to that our first night. The kids are a little old for that so it wasn't on their top thing to do.
The next day was spent in the waterpark the entire morning and early afternoon. Caleb ended up getting a nasty cut on his toe from the lazy river so we had to cut the day short. Then he took a 3hr nap while Jacob and Sydni went and played MagiQuest. That night we went to dinner at another restaurant on site because it was Thanksgiving Thursday! Then more MagiQuest and arcade games.
Friday morning Sydni had her spa activities where she got a chocolate facial and a manicure. The Scoops spa is a really cute thing for the young girls to do. The boys played in the arcade most of the morning. They also all made craft items at the Cub Club.
All in all, it was another great trip to Great Wolf Lodge and we will definitely do it again soon.
We spent Father's Day with PoPo at home and then went to the Round Rock Express game to celebrate Cousin Maddy's birthday. The kids love it when they get to go swimming at Dell Diamond and spend time with their cousins. We all had a great time.
We had so much fun watching Toy Story 3 this morning. Great movie and made a couple of us cry (not the boys though). Jacob gave it at 10 and Sydni, Caleb and Katie rated it "infinity".
Then we had lunch at Cracker Barrel and swimming at the water park.
Jacob and Caleb both had to get braces on their teeth. Mom and Diane said they both did well during the process. They are now home and Caleb is in pain and wants to eat but can't because he doesn't want to hurt himself. Jacob is already flossing. They both look cute.
School's out for summer!! And the kids are ready to spend some time in the pool. We went to the local pool on Memorial Day and the next day went to the water park.
The kids all made the honor roll for the entire school year. Caleb got all A's for every nine-week period and averaged all A's. Sydni got all A's except one nine-week period and averaged all A's for the year. Jacob got a mix of all A's and A's and B's and averaged A's and B's for the school year.
Caleb made an arrangement with me and PoPo to get an ipad if he got all A's. He texted me from school to let me know he did it. Sydni asked for a laptop and got it for her good grades. Jacob got a new bike and some new video games for his good grades.
Jacob and Sydni decided they wanted to make something sweet. Soooo they poured some chocolate syrup in a plate and sprinkled peanuts in it and plopped it in the freezer. We tried it when it hadn't quite "set" yet and I must admit it was mighty delicious. All it needed was some vanilla icecream and we'd have a sundae.
The kids had their school awards assembly on March 31. We are so proud that all three kids got Straight A's this semester.
Jacob also got the Math Award.
The official giving out the awards even recognized Diane for all that she does with the kids and at the kids school. It was very nice of them. We also have to thank Granny Gran because she makes sure the kids do their homework and stays on them to do well in school.
The unbelievable happened on February 23, 2010 and we got snow in Central Texas. We've had flurries before but this time it actually stuck.
Sydni was home sick for the week so I had to bring some snow into the house so she could make a snowman. The boys were staying with their Grandma Sherry to keep them away from Sydni and they had even more snow in her town so they were excited.
